New Fund Focused on Horror Includes Hot Property

Los Angeles, CA (April 27, 2015) Horror Equity Fund (, led by industry veterans Marlon Schulman and Brian Herskowitz, signs RED TIDE to a pre-production deal to help secure financing, cast, and distribution. RED TIDE is about a marine biologist and her research team that discovers a radioactive ship washed ashore from the Japanese Tsunami, and then find themselves in the fight for their lives against a mutant creature that could destroy the world.

RED TIDE is exactly the type of film we are looking to lead our slate of projects says Horror Equity Fund CEO Schulman, who has worked with major entertainment companies Bandai Entertainment, Orion Pictures and AECG. The caliber of the RED TIDE story and production team makes this a project we know we can fund, find an enthusiastic audience for, and provide return for our investors.

RED TIDE is written by Chris Donaldson & Brian Young, and is scheduled to be directed by Brian Young in late 2015.  Young previously helmed the feature film Counting Days and the documentary The Mountain Runners, which was nominated for two Emmys. Donaldson is executive producer at Hand Crank Films (, which produces commercial work for clients ranging from Amazon and Intel to Microsoft and Farmers Insurance.

Seeing the HEF vision and their approach to market made this deal a no-brainer for us, says Donaldson. Marlon and Brian are bringing together investors and content creators in a new way that is going to change the game for us and other filmmakers.

The budget for RED TIDE is currently at $1.75 million, of which a good percentage has been raised in verifiable funds. To learn more about this opportunity and the Horror Equity Fund, visit, then contact:
